The Story of the Film

Macbeth (2015) Movie is the celluloid adaptation of famous Shakespear’s play attempted by Justin Kurzel. Here we see the ambitious Macbeth going for the throne. Macbeth was a thane with a wish.

A wish proving too costly for him. He wanted to be the king of England. Driven by that ambition, he killed King Duncan and seized the throne himself. Macbeth’s arrogant style soon brought chaos to the empire.

Murders, revolts and mischiefs followed. Ruling with an iron hand, Macbeth soon became a tyrant. He grew so violent that he himself began to fear his hostile nature. Let’s look at the cast and crew who brought this adaptation to the silver screen.

Macbeth (2015) Movie Review by Looped Stream

Macbeth is a gripping adaptation of Shakespeare’s play on screen. To start this review off, I’d say Macbeth (2015) Movie is an intense film. It is beautifully narrated on-screen through the performances. What the Film did well is that it stayed true to the original source. While doing that, this movie innovated in the cinematography.

I never saw slow motions and speeding of the scenes used in this manner in a film. Through the special effect, it captured the emotions of the characters pretty well. The crew did an excellent job in “Wide shots” as well.

If people argue that CGI is used in Macbeth (2015), I’d be interested to know where? I just couldn’t find it. The camera work is realistic. Acting-wise, this Macbeth made way for arguably two of the best performances of 2015 right at the end. Firstly, David Thewlis as Duncan did the job really well. He portrayed “The King” in a kingly manner.

Equally brilliant was Sean Harris as Macduff. But no one came close to Michael Fassbender. He, as Macbeth, was incredible. Just a Note: He portrayed a cruel slave owner in 12 Years A Slave (2013) which we reviewed as well. That role was equally awesome!

Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth was my personal favorite. Playing complex roles are never easy. I am an avid Shakespeare fan. To me, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are two complex characters not just anyone can play. Watching Fassbender and Cotillard was a bliss. The best part about Fassbender and Cotillard’s acting was their monologues.

They not only uttered the monologues correctly, also gave the right expressions. It was like poetry in motion. Specially the last monologue by Lady Macbeth was spot on. I won’t be surprised if one of these two (if not both) grab Oscars for their performances.

A word of thought for Justin Kurzel’s direction as well. He made his version of Macbeth easy for the sloths, non-literature fans. His interpretation clearly got through to me and the rest that were there in the theatre. A job well is done, no doubt.

This is a drama that has been portrayed over and over again. Yet, his version is a refreshing take on this film.

Kurzel’s Macbeth was cruel, brutal and hard onto the world. The atmosphere of this film is intense, bloody and violent. The environment is powerful that grips the viewer to the end. The environment created by Kurzel wins half the mental battle with the audience. The outstanding acting from the entire cast has a distinct part to play in the message of the film to get to the audiences.

Eerie background music goes perfectly with the story to complement the cinema. Macbeth (2015) Movie can hold its head high amongst some of the excellent movies of 2015.

The film is gruesome yet fantastic. The USP of Macbeth (2015) Movie is the acting and the monologues. Take one blink away from the screen and you’ll miss a significant action. Sometimes there are subtle hints about the scene that follows the current one. If you take your eyes away from the screen, you’ll miss them.
